Awareness is defined by Dictionary.com as: "the state or condition of being aware; having knowledge; consciousness: Acceptance is defined by Dictionary.com as: "favorable reception; approval; favor" April is National Autism Awareness Month. It is great educate others about autism so that they are more aware, but as you can see from the definitions above we also need to spread the message of acceptance as well. We need to teach people to have a "favorable reception" towards others that are different than themselves, not to just "having knowledge" about how they might be different.
